CERTAIN ASYLUM APPLICANTS CAN NOW APPLY FOR WORK AUTHORIZATION ONLINE
The U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) has made filing Form I-765, Application for Employment Authorization, available online.
To file Form I-765 online, prospective applicants must first visit my.uscis.gov to create a USCIS online account at no cost. If an applicant has previously filed a USCIS form online, they may use an existing USCIS online account. To apply for an Employment Authorization Document (EAD), applicants may file Form I-765 150 days after filing an asylum application. Please refer to the date USCIS received a properly filed Form I-589, Application for Asylum and Withholding of Removal as the filing date, which can be found on the subsequent receipt notice.
